Subject: WIND BUFFETING WITH SUNROOF OPEN (TRIM FRONT RAIL STOP)

Models
Affected: 1992 BONNEVILLE MODELS

CONDITION:

Some 1992 Bonneville models with sunroof option (CF5) may have wind buffeting in the vehicle with the sunroof in the open position.

CAUSE:

This condition may be caused by a wind deflector with insufficient vertical angle to prevent deflector vibration.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

The following is to be performed to both sides of the sunroof module:

1. Push out pin # 106 toward the center of the vehicle. See Figure 1.

2. Raise deflector bracket # 103 and remove spring # 105.

3. Trim 1 mm off the front rail # 49 at the deflector bracket contact surface. See close-up in Figure 1. This will allow the deflector to reach a steeper angle, raising the deflector 3 mm in the center.

4. Reinstall spring # 105.

5. While holding the spring in place, position the deflector bracket # 103 over the spring.

6. Reinstall pin # 106 which is a press fit. The pin must go through spring # 105 for proper function.
