PRODUCT CAMPAIGN 92-C-12

Subject:
ELECTROCHROMIC INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR

Models Affected:
1992 PONTIAC SSEI AM SSE WITH INSIDE AUTOMATIC
DAY/NIGHT MIRROR (RPO DD8) AND DRIVER/PASSENGER
SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT (RPO AK4)

TO: ALL PONTIAC DEALERS

CONDITION

General Motors has determined that certain 1992 Pontiac SSEI and SSE model vehicles with Inside Automatic Day/Night Mirror (RPO DD8) and Driver/Passenger Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) systems have an inside rearview mirror which may break at the attachment ball socket neck area. Breaking may occur during manual mirror adjustment if forced beyond normal adjustment range.

The inside rearview mirror was designed to "break away" during passenger side SIR deployment.

DEALER ACTION

To prevent this condition from occurring, dealers are to install an improved replacement inside rearview mirror with a clip on attachment design that still provides desired performance during SIR deployment.
