Service Precautions - Front Heated Windshield System

Some diagnostic checks described in this section override system safeguards that prevent power from being supplied to a windshield with obvious or hidden damage in power strips located on the right (passenger) side of the windshield. If these overriding checks are performed on a damaged windshield, hot spots can develop in the damaged areas. Personal injury (from burns) can result from touching these areas.

Before performing any diagnostic checks in the heated windshield system, check for windshield damage and perform the following HEATED WINDSHIELD RESISTANCE TEST.
