Mirrors: Description and Operation
CIRCUIT OPERATION
The Power Mirrors are adjusted from the interior of the car by moving the Outside Mirror Switch in the desired direction.
Each Outside Mirror has two reversible motors: one to adjust the mirror view up and down. The other to adjust the mirror view right and left. The driver operates the Mirror Position Switch to control the polarity of the voltage to the motors. The Mirror Select Switch directs this voltage to either the RH or LH Outside Mirror.
With the Mirror Select Switch in the L position and the Mirror Position Switch in the UP position, battery voltage is applied through the ACC Fuse and the UP contacts of the Mirror Position Switch to the Up-Down Motor in the LH Outside Mirror. The Up-Down Motor is grounded through the L contacts of the Mirror Select Switch and the UP contacts of the Mirror Position Switch to G210. The Up-Down Motor will continue to run and turn the mirror up until the Mirror Position Switch is released.
When the Mirror Position Switch is pushed to the DOWN position, battery voltage is now applied through the ACC Fuse, the DOWN contacts of the Mirror Position Switch and the L contacts of the Mirror Select Switch to the Up-Down Motor. The Up-Down Motor is now grounded through the UP contacts of the Mirror Position Switch to G210. The Up-Down Motor will continue to run and turn the mirror down until the Mirror Position Switch is released.
The Left-Right Motor operates in a similar manner. With the Mirror Select Switch in the L position and the Mirror Position Switch in the LEFT position, battery voltage is applied through the ACC Fuse, the LEFT contacts of the Mirror Position Switch and the L contacts of the Mirror Select Switch to the Left-Right Motor in the LH Outside Mirror. The Left-Right Motor is grounded through the LEFT contacts of the Mirror Position Switch to G210. The Left-Right Motor will continue to run and turn the mirror to the left until the Mirror Position Switch is released.
When the Mirror Position Switch is pushed to the RIGHT position, battery voltage is now applied through the ACC Fuse, the RIGHT contacts of the Mirror Position Switch and the L contacts of the Mirror Select Switch to the Left-Right Motor. The Left-Right Motor is now grounded through the RIGHT contacts of the Mirror Position Switch to G210. The Left-Right Motor will continue to run and turn the mirror to the right until the Mirror Position Switch is released.
The RH Outside Mirror works in the same way as the LH Outside Mirror when the Mirror Select Switch is moved to the R position and the Mirror Position Switch is operated.
