Disassembly

DISASSEMBLE

1. Remove thrust bearing and race from front end of output shaft. Scribe reference mark on 3rd/4th synchronizer hub and sleeve for assembly purposes.






2. Remove 3rd/4th synchronizer, 3rd blocker ring, sleeve, hub and 3rd gear as an assembly from output shaft using bearing and gear puller tool No. J 22912-01 or equivalent.

3. Remove needle bearing assembly and spacer.

4. Remove 2nd gear snap ring, thrust washer, then 2nd gear, spacer and needle bearing.

5. Remove spiral snap ring and thrust washer.






6. Remove three-piece 2nd gear blocker ring assembly. Scribe reference mark on 1st/2nd synchronizer hub and sleeve for assembly purposes.

7. Remove sleeve from output shaft hub.






8. Safety glasses must be worn during this procedure. Carefully remove anti-rattle (detent) spring and ball from hub, spring and ball are under pressure.

9. Do not attempt to remove 1st/2nd reverse hub from output shaft. Hub and shaft are permanently assembled and machined as a set.

10. Remove 5th gear using bearing and gear puller tool No. J 22912-01 or equivalent.

11. Remove output shaft rear bearing assembly.

12. Remove 1st gear, needle bearing and sleeve, locating pin, then three-piece 1st gear blocker ring assembly.
