Shift Cover Housing

DISASSEMBLE
1. Place selector arm and shift rail in Neutral position (centered).

2. Rotate shift rail until selector arm disengages from selector arm plates and roll pin is accessible.

3. Remove selector arm from roll pin using a pin punch and a hammer.

4. Remove shift rail, shift forks, selector arm plates, selector arm, interlock plates and roll pin.

5. Remove shift cover to extension housing 0-ring, then nylon inserts and selector arm plates from shift forks. Note position of inserts and plates for assembly purposes.

ASSEMBLE
1. Install nylon inserts and selector arm plates in shift forks. If removed, coat edges of shift rail plug with suitable sealer before installing. Coat shift rail and rail bores with transmission fluid.

2. Install shift rail in cover until flush with inside edge of cover.

3. Place 1st/2nd shift fork in cover with fork offset facing rear of cover and push shift rail through fork. 1st/2nd shift fork is larger of two forks.

4. Install selector arm and C-shaped interlock plate in cover and insert shift rail through arm. Widest part of interlock plate must face away from cover, and selector arm roll pin hole must face downward and toward rear of cover.

5. Install 3rd/4th shift fork in cover with fork offset facing rear of cover. 3rd/4th shift fork selector arm plate must be under 1st/2nd shift fork selector arm plate.

6. Install shift rail through 3rd/4th shift fork and into front bore in cover. Rotate shift rail until selector arm plate at forward end of rail faces away from, but is parallel to cover. Align roll pin holes in selector arm and shift rail and install roll pin. Roll pin must be flush with surface of selector arm to prevent pin from contacting selector arm plates during shifts.

7. Install new shift cover to extension 0-ring seal. Coat 0-ring seal with transmission fluid.
