Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
Fig. 22 Evaporator Core Replace:
1. To avoid personal injury when servicing models equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System, temporarily disarm system. Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. On all models, disconnect battery ground cable, if not previously performed.
3. Discharge A/C refrigerant system, then remove pressure cycling switch and accumulator.
4. Remove blower motor resistor assembly.
5. Remove blower motor relay and bracket.
6. Remove upper evaporator case attaching screws, then remove upper evaporator case and seal, Fig. 22.
7. Disconnect refrigerant line from lower fitting of evaporator. Cap refrigerant line and evaporator fitting.
8. Remove evaporator and seal.
9. Reverse procedure to install.
10. After completing service procedure activate Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (Airbag) System. Refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
