Subject: INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER COVER/HOOD "POPS UP" (TRIM FOAM SEAL MATERIAL FROM I/P)

Affected: 1992 GRAND AM MODELS


Condition: Some 1992 Grand Am models may experience a condition where the instrument panel cover may not stay seated to the instrument panel.

Cause: High foam seal density may prevent the retaining clips from fully seating into the bosses and may allow the cover to "pop up" in service.

Correction: The condition may be corrected as follows:

1. Remove the I/P cluster cover as outlined in the 1992 Grand Am Service Manual, Section 8C, page 8C-9.

FIGURE 1:

2. Trim foam seal and remove shaded portion as shown in Figure 1.

3. Reinstall I/P cover as outlined in the 1992 Grand Am Service Manual.
