Subject: AM9 SPLIT FOLDING REAR SEAT BACK PANELS GOING REARWARD PAST STOP BRACKET (REPLACE WITH NEW BRACKET)

CONDITION:

Owners of some 1992 Grand Am models with AM9 split folding rear seat back option may comment on the occurrence of pushing the folding seat panels back past the stop bracket located on the rear side of the rear seat back collar at the inner upper corners of the seat panels.

CAUSE:

Length dimension on stop bracket is not adequate.

CORRECTION:

Replace existing stop bracket with new bracket (part # 16721075).

1. Remove rear seat cushion and seatback.
2. Remove (3) screws securing stop bracket and replace with new bracket.
3. Reinstall rear seatback and cushion.
