Dimmer Switch: Description and Operation
With the Headlight Switch in "HEAD" or "PARK," battery voltage is applied to the Panel Dimmer Switch and the Lamp Dimmer Module via the INST LPS Fuse. With the Dimmer Switch in the "OFF" position, ground is applied to the Lamp Dimmer Module term "B." The Lamp Dimmer Module is turned off and no voltage is applied to the Interior Lights. This also disables the headlights-on warning. When in "LO," the Dimmer Switch applies a minimum voltage to the Lamp Dimmer Module. The Lamp Dimmer Module then applies a low voltage to the Interior Lights. As the Dimmer Switch is moved toward the "HI" position, the voltage signal to the Lamp Dimmer Module is increased, causing the Lamp Dimmer Module to apply a proportionally increasing voltage to the Interior Lights.
