Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Adjustments


MODELS W/LOCK TAB ADJUSTING CABLE

1. Depress and hold re-adjust tab, Fig. 4.
2. Move slider back through fitting in direction away from throttle idler lever until slider stops against fitting, then release re-adjust tab.
3. On all except Cutlass Calais, Grand Am and Skylark models with 2.5L/4-151 engine, rotate throttle idler lever to full travel stop position, then release throttle lever.
4. On Cutlass Calais, Grand Am and Skylark models with 2.5L/4-151 engine, press accelerator pedal to full travel, then release accelerator pedal.

1. Ensure cable is in ``Non-Adjusted'' position as shown, Fig. 5.
2. Using a suitable torque wrench, rotate idler pulley counterclockwise to 65 inch lbs. on all except Cutlass Calais, Grand Am and Skylark models, or 75 inch lbs. on Cutlass Calais, Grand Am and Skylark models.
3. Ensure cable moves freely, then test drive vehicle.

1. Ensure TV cable and throttle cable are properly installed in throttle lever and TV cable slider is in full non-adjusted position. Fig. 6.
2. Rotate throttle lever to full travel position, applying no more torque than necessary to reach throttle body stop.
3. Depress and hold adjustment button.
4. Pull cable conduit out until slider contacts against adjustment.
5. Release button. Repeat procedure to ensure proper adjustment.
