Heater Hose: Service and Repair
Heater Hoses:
Quick Connect Heater Inlet Nipple:
The following procedure may be used when removing and installing a engine side heater inlet pipe equipped with a quick connect heater inlet nipple.
Remove or Disconnect
1. Air cleaner.
2. Drain coolant.
3. Pipe bracket transaxle stud nut.
4. Pipe bracket block stud nut.
5. Loosen clamp and remove hose from dash side heater inlet.
6. Push pipe into nipple and insert special tool J 38723 into nipple to release locking tabs.
7. Pull retainer and pipe from heater inlet nipple.
Inspect
^ O-Ring sealing surface on pipe.
Adjust
^ If replacing heater inlet nipple, remove retainer from pipe and discard, as new nipple is equipped with retainer.
^ If replacing pipe, remove retainer from pipe and reinsert retainer in nipple.
^ If reusing pipe and nipple, retainer can remain in place on pipe.
Install or Connect
1. Push pipe into nipple until retainer tabs lock.
^ Pull back on pipe to check for proper engagement.
2. Hose to dash side heater inlet, and tighten clamp.
3. Pipe bracket block stud nut.
4. Pipe bracket transaxle stud nut.
5. Refill coolant.
6. Air cleaner.
