THIS BULLETIN HAS BEEN REVISED TO CHANGE SCANNER I.D. FOR MEMCAL P/N'S 16184013 THROUGH 16184016 AND TO INCLUDE 1990 GRAND PRIX MODELS WITH 3.1L ENGINE (RPO LHO). THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND REPLACES BULLETIN 92-6-60 ISSUED 9/92. PLEASE DISCARD BULLETIN 92-6-60.

CONDITION:

Some owners of 1990-92 Sunbird and Grand Prix models may experience engine stalling/cold start or operational stalls.

CAUSE:

Low volatility/high driveability index fuels now available in the market place.

CORRECTION:

If any of the subject conditions are found, they may be corrected by new engine calibrations available to improve engine operational stability and cold (open loop) driveability.

Use the following procedure:

1. Perform diagnostics, per Section 6E of the Service Manual. Make any adjustments, as required, or replace any defective parts associated with the causes described.

2. If no cause for the stalling is found (using normal diagnostics) and the condition still exists, then replace the memcal with one from the table (using Service Manual procedures):
