WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID LOSS
(REPLACE WINDSHIELD WASHER
RESERVOIR AND BRACKET)
Models Affected:
1992-93 SUNBIRD MODELS
CONDITION:
Some 1992-93 Sunbird models may experience windshield washer fluid loss with cracked reservoirs.
CAUSE:
This may be caused by abrasion from the reservoir bracket edge.
CORRECTION:
Replace affected washer reservoir and replace bracket with a revised nylon coated bracket, P/N 22593352.
1. Remove washer bottle filler neck bolt and cap assembly.
2. Remove front air induction tube bolt.
3. Remove battery. Refer to service manual, section 6D1.
4. Remove washer reservoir bracket bolts in battery tray.
5. Raise vehicle and suitably support. Refer to service manual, section 0B.
6. Remove left front wheel. Refer to service manual, section 3E.
7. Remove front inner fender bolts and move aside.
8. Remove left front valance bolts and clips.
9. Disconnect washer pump and electrical connection.
10. Remove lower washer reservoir bracket bolt through hole in valance.
11. Remove lower air induction tube.
12. Remove washer reservoir.
13. Transfer washer pump to new bottle.
14. Remove bracket.
15. Install revised bracket.
16. Install washer reservoir.
17. Install air induction tube and lower bolt.
18. Install lower reservoir bracket bolt through hole in valance.
19. Install washer pump hose and electrical connector.
20. Install front valance bolts and clips on left side.
21. Install inner fender assembly.
22. Install wheel. Refer to service manual, section 3E.
23. Lower vehicle.
24. Install front air induction tube bolt.
25. Install washer bottle bracket bolts in battery tray.
26. Install washer reservoir filler neck bolt and cap.
27. Install battery. Refer to service manual, section 6D1.
28. Refill reservoir and check washer system for proper operation.
