Test C: Fuel Gage Is Inaccurate
Disconnect fuel tank unit connector and connect one red lead of tester J33431 to RED/WHT (30) wire and the other lead to ground. Set the resistance dials of the tester to 0 ohms and then to 90 ohms. The fuel gage should read F and then E. Wait 1 minute to allow the fuel gauge to respond.^ If the fuel gage responds correctly, check BLK (150) wire for high resistance. If wire is OK, replace the fuel gage sender.
^ If the fuel gage does not respond correctly, check RED/WHT (30) wire to the instrument cluster for high resistance. Also, inspect the printed circuit for proper mating of the connectors. Replace the fuel gage if the RED/WHT (30) wire and printed circuit are OK.
