Power Seats/ Door Locks - Inoperative: Overview
File In Section: 8 - Chassis/Body ElectricalBulletin No.: 53-81-28
Date: October, 1995
Subject:
Inoperative Power Seats and/or Door Locks with Simultaneous use of Rear Window Defogger (Suggested Operation or Rewire)
Models:
1992-93 Buick LeSabre, Park Avenue
1992-93 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight, Ninety Eight
1992-93 Pontiac Bonneville
CONDITION
Some owners may comment on inoperative power seats and/or power door locks if they turn the rear defogger on at the same time.
CAUSE
Circuit breaker # 4 in the I/P fuse block is designed to interrupt current if circuit 60 is overloaded. During cold weather when the power seats are run to the full forward or full rearward position, or the power door locks are used with the rear defogger in the "ON" position, it is possible that the circuit breaker could open. This is normal. If an owner should comment on this, it should be explained to the owner that the circuit is operating as designed.
If the owner is dissatisfied with this explanation and requests that a modification be made, the following procedure should be used to break the Rear Defogger grid off of circuit breaker # 4.
CORRECTION
IMPORTANT
Use the applicable Service Manual, Sections 8A-61, I/P Fuse Block/Relay Center Details, Rear Defogger/Heated Mirrors and Power Distribution and Section 8C as a guideline.
