INOPERATIVE OR ERRATIC OPERATION OF DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW DUE TO WATER INTRUSION IN EXPRESS DOWN WINDOW MODULE (REPLACE MODULE)
MODELS:
1993 BUICK PARK AVENUE AND LE SABRE
1993 OLDSMOBILE NINETY EIGHT AND EIGHTY EIGHT
1993 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE
THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO CORRECT A PART NUMBER AND TO DELETE THE ADDRESS FOR PARTS RETURN. PLEASE DISCARD BULLETIN 338122.
CONDITION:
Some of the above vehicles equipped with express down window have exhibited the following conditions:
1. The driver side power window performs an express open function without activating any switch inputs.
2. The driver side power window performs an express open function when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position.
3. The driver side power window is inoperative.
CAUSE:
This condition may be due to water getting inside the express down module.
Note:The concern may be difficult to diagnose because the condition is usually intermittent.
CORRECTION:
When servicing a vehicle with any of the conditions listed above, the following procedure should be used:
1. Replace the express down window module, P/N 25614182
Note:
The driver side power window may be functional when being serviced but water might have damaged the components and may still be present In the module.
2. Prior to inserting the connector on the module, coat the male terminals and the surrounding area on the module with grease, P/N 12345579.
3. Make certain the sealed connector Is fully inserted into the module opening.
4. Adjust or replace the front door shower curtain as necessary. See Figures 1 and 2 for illustrations of the correct installation.
5. Make sure the wires leading into the connector of the express down window module are NOT pulled tight, thus avoiding compression of the cable and connector seals.
6. If the driver side power window is still inoperative after replacing the express down window module, then troubleshoot the system using the appropriate service manual procedures.
