SUBJECT:
FRONT SEAT CHUCKING OR NOISY (REPLACE SEAT ADJUSTER NUTS)
MODELS:
1993 CHEVROLET CAMARO 1993 PONTIAC FIREBIRD
CONDITION:
Some owners may comment about front seat chucking or noisy.
CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by a loose seat adjuster mounting nut which loses torque.
NOTE:
The condition does not compromise seat retention nor compliance with safety standards.
CORRECTION:
To address this comment use the following procedure which includes a synchronization of manual adjusters, and replacement of seat adjuster nuts with new nuts, P/N 10247347 (8 Per Vehicle).
1. Remove plastic caps, nuts and washers from adjuster to floor pan studs. Save plastic caps.
2. With seat in forward position, install new torque prevailing nuts on rear attaching studs. Torque to 29 N-m (21 lb.ft.) and replace plastic caps.
NOTE:
Seat belt tension must be removed from seats by removing the belt guide loop before completing following steps.
3. Using a smooth easy motion, move seat to full rearward position keeping front adjuster legs positioned on floor plan attaching studs.
4. Hand start new torque prevailing nuts on front attaching studs.
5. Turn base of seat side-to-side to simultaneously engage adjuster locks on inner and outer tracks.
Torque front nuts to 29 N-m (21 lb.ft.) and install caps.
6. Reattach shoulder belt guide loop.
