Lower

Ball joint seals should be checked for cuts and tears. If cuts and tears are present, replace ball joint.

The lower ball joint has a visual wear indicator. Proceed as follows to inspect:
1. Ensure vehicle is supported by wheel assemblies so weight of vehicle is properly loading ball joints, then wipe grease fitting free of dirt and grease.
2. Wear is indicated by position of 1/2 inch diameter nipple in which grease fitting is threaded. If nipple is flush or inside cover surface, replace ball joint.
