CENTER CONSOLE LIGHT STAYS ON (INSTALL RETAINER OR REPLACE DOOR LID ASSEMBLY)

MODEL:
1993 PONTIAC FIREBIRD

Bulletin being revised to add additional correction procedure should light remain on�and Labor Operation for this procedure. Previous divisional publication numbers were:

GM of Canada 93-10-213
Pontiac 93-10-29

CONDITION:

Some owners of 1993 Pontiac Firebirds may comment that the console light does not turn off when the lid is closed.

CAUSE:

The switch plunger does not maintain contact with the contact boss on the lid assembly.

CORRECTION:





Drill a 9/32" (7 mm) hole into the switch plunger contact boss. The hole should be centered in the boss front to rear and approximately 2 mm inboard from center crosscar (See Illustration). Install retainer P/N 10121502 completely into the hole. Close lid and check to be sure light is off.

If light still remains on, replace door lid assembly with a new one, P/N 16754475.
