Body - Water Intrusion into Interior During Car Wash

File In Section: 10 - Body

Bulletin No.: 63-10-22

Date: January, 1996

Subject:
Water Intrusion Into Vehicle Interior During Car Wash (Install New Primary Weatherstrip)

Models:
1993-95 Chevrolet Camaro (T-Top/Base Roof)
1993-95 Pontiac Firebird (T-Top/Base Roof)

Condition

Some owners may comment on water intrusion into the vehicle interior during car wash.

Correction

Install new primary weatherstrip. The new seal has a groove in the weatherstrip at the rear which helps divert water. See Figure 1, Items 1 and 3.

Important: The 1996 weatherstrip rear retaining screw has been moved and the weatherstrip has been shortened by approximately 1 inch. If you are installing this new seal on a 1995 vehicle or older, the retaining hole will not be covered by the weatherstrip. See Figure 1, Item 2. Install a screw in the old hole and, after the new weatherstrip has been installed, drill a 1/8 inch hole where the new weatherstrip retaining hole is located and insert a new screw.
