Due to the success of the Delco Chassis ABS VI service part exchange program in providing customer/dealership feedback and minimizing service/diagnostic problems, the program has been modified effective October 1, 1993.

Previously, Dealership Technicians were required to contact Delco Chassis Technical Assistance to verify diagnosis, establish a TAS case, and to order replacement parts for all ABS VI components. Beginning October 1, 1993, all J, N, L, U, and W ABS VI vehicle components, with the exception of the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) and the ABS motorpack, will be released from restriction. At this time, the Dealership may begin to order and stock the released ABS VI parts through normal GMSPO channels.

The Delco Chassis ABS VI service part exchange program is still in effect for certain restricted parts. The parts that are still on restriction are listed in this document. The procedure outlined below must be followed when the diagnostics contained within Section 5E1 of the Service Manual lead to the replacement of a part contained on the restricted list.

THE PART REPLACEMENT/RETURN PROCEDURE

1. THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN

A. The Dealership Technician is required to diagnose the ABS VI System using Section 5E1 of the Service Manual and TECH 1 or T100 (CAMS) tools.

B. If the diagnosis leads to the replacement of a restricted part, the Technician must then contact Delco Chassis Technical Assistance to verify diagnosis and establish a TAS case using the appropriate phone number as follows:

CHEVROLET 1-800-227-3175

PONTIAC 1-800-523-0203

OLDSMOBILE 1-800-523-0203

BUICK 1-800-523-0203

GM of CANADA 1-800-523-0203

NOTE:
There are no French operators at this location. Therefore GM of Canada Dealers without bilingual personnel should contact their regular "1-800" Technical Assistance Center number.

C. The Technician must have the following information when contacting Delco Chassis Technical Assistance:

VIN

Vehicle mileage

Dealer Code

Step-by-step results from the trouble trees used to diagnose the vehicle

2. REPLACEMENT PART(S) ORDERS

A. Upon verification of proper diagnosis involving a restricted part, the TAS Consultant will place the necessary part(s) orders directly to GMSPO or an A.C. DELCO Service Center.

B. The ordered parts will be shipped to the dealer within 24 hours via GMSPO VIP OVERNIGHT status. The part will be billed with the VIP surcharge and overnight shipping premiums waived.

NOTE:
Dealers cannot order restricted ABS VI parts directly from GMSPO. If a dealer attempts to order any of the restricted parts directly, the order will be rejected with a message to contact Delco Chassis Technical Assistance. A listing of the restricted parts Is Included In this bulletin.

3. PARTS RETURNS
