5 Speed

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove front floor console trim plate assembly.

2. Raise and support vehicle, then drain transmission fluid.

3. Disconnect propeller shaft assembly, the support rear axle assembly with a jack stand.

4. Remove rear axle torque arm assembly, then catalytic converter hanger assembly.

5. Disconnect electrical connectors from back-up lamp switch and speed sensor, then support engine assembly with a jack stand.

6. Remove transmission support and mount assembly, then lower transmission enough to reach control bolts.

7. Remove transmission control bolts, then lower transmission and remove control assembly. Control must be held while lowering transmission as control is not retained in vehicle and could drop, damaging components.

8. Remove transmission assembly.

9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Torque transmission bolts to 55 ft. lbs. and transmission control bolts to 13 ft. lbs.

b. Apply a continuous 1/8 inch bead of RTV sealant 12345739 to extension housing to control assembly sealing surface.
