MOANING/CREAKING NOISE WHEN OPERATING REAR COMPARTMENT LIFT WINDOW (APPLY LUBRICANT)
MODELS:
1993 CHEVROLET CAMARO AND 1993 PONTIAC FIREBIRD
CONDITION:
Some customers may comment about "moaning" or creaking sounds when opening the rear compartment lift window on 1993 "F" styles.
CAUSE:
This condition may be due to a vibration from the forward attaching end of the rear compartment lift window strut (Service Manual Section 10-8, Body Rear End).
CORRECTION:
Carefully remove the cover from the hole in the quarter panel trim at the forward strut attachment and apply a small amount of lubrication (motor oil or spray type lubriplate) to the bolt shank or strut sleeve.
Operate the lid several times to spread the lubrication and reinstall the cover over the attachment end and behind the trim panel.
NOTE:
If noise is present after cycling lid, replace strut with the following:
Chevrolet (All) 10240017-18 (Right/Left)
Pontiac Firebird 10240019-20 (Right/Left)
Pontiac TransAm 10240015-16 (Right/Left)
