Engine: Service and Repair













Remove or Disconnect

1. Remove hood and cover fenders.
2. Support engine using J 28467-A and J 28467-330.
3. De-pressurize and disconnect fuel pipes from fuel rail.
4. Negative battery cable.
5. Drain engine coolant.
6. Radiator and heater hoses.
7. Engine cooling fan.
8. Air intake duct from throttle body.
9. Vacuum lines from:
^ Brake power booster.
^ Evaporative canister purge.

10. Cable bracket and cables from throttle body.
11. Accessory drive belt.
12. Power steering pump and locate to the side.
13. Electrical connections.
14. Upper transaxle to engine bolts.
15. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
16. A/C compressor and locate to the side.
17. Right engine mount and torque strut.
18. Flywheel dust cover.
19. Flywheel to converter bolts.

Important
^ Use a scribe to mark the relationship of the torque converter to flywheel to assure proper reassembly.

20. Lower engine to transaxle bolts.
^ One bolt is located between the transaxle case and engine block and is installed in the opposite direction.

21. Lower vehicle.
22. Engine assembly.


Install or Connect

^ To complete engine installation, observe the following assembly tips and reverse the removal procedures.

Assembly Tips
^ One transaxle to engine bolt is located between the transaxle case and engine block and is installed in the opposite direction.
^ Be sure to line up torque converter and flywheel marks made at disassembly.
^ Tighten torque converter to flywheel bolts twice to 63 N.m (46 lbs. ft.).
^ Check oil level.
^ Check fluid levels.
^ Check for fluid leaks.
^ Check for proper completion of repair.
