Hard to Start

DEFINITION: Engine cranks OK, but does not start for a long time. Does eventually run, or start but immediately dies.

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) ^ Check for binding or high TPS voltage with the throttle closed (should read between 0.36 Volts and 0.96 Volts).



Fuel pump relay ^ Check fuel pump relay circuit.



Fuel Pressure ^ Check fuel system pressure.



Contaminated Fuel ^ Check fuel filters, perform ALCOHOL IN FUEL TEST.



Fuel injectors ^ Check fuel injector fuses.
