Checking Belt Tension

Tool Required:
J 36018 Belt Tension Gage

Measure
1. Place J 36018 on belt.

^ If installing a new drive belt, set tension to 900 N (200 lbs.) maximum. Start engine and run for a minimum of 2 minutes, then reset tension to 450 N (100 lbs.).

2. If J 36018 does not indicate proper tension, adjust the belt to 450 N (100 lbs.).
