Reference Number: 338201
Publish Date: 7/93

Subject:
MOISTURE COLLECTING IN FOG LAMP
(REPLACE FOG LAMP AND BULB)

Models Affected:
1992-93 GRAND AM MODELS

CONDITION:
Some 1992-93 Pontiac Grand Am models equipped with fog lamps built before breakpoints PM561565 or PC746168 may experience a condition where moisture collects in the fog lamp assembly.

CAUSE:

The vent in the 10 o'clock position may become plugged causing moisture to be drawn through the lamp electrical connector. A revised sealed bulb is now used in production that prevents this condition and is available for service. The revised lamp has the vent in the bottom or 6 o'clock position.

CORRECTION:

Replace fog lamp, P/N 5977337, and bulb, P/N 11516247, with revised parts as outlined in the service manual, Section 8B.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
