Illuminated Entry and Security Lighting

CIRCUIT OPERATION
Illuminated Entry and Security Lighting turns on the Courtesy Lights for approximately 30 seconds when the Ignition Switch is turned "OFF" and when one of the outside door handles (STE) or the LH front door handle (Grand Prix) is lifted. The system includes the following components: Headlight Switch, Door Latch Switches, Courtesy Lights, and Diode Box (STE).

The Headlight Switch receives battery voltage through the Headlight Circuit Breaker at all times and through the INDIC Fuse with the Ignition Switch in "RUN," "BULB TEST" or "START." When one of the outside door handles (STE) or the LH front door handle (Grand Prix) is lifted, the Door Latch Switch closes and grounds terminal "D" of the Headlight Switch. If the Ignition Switch is "OFF" and a door handle is lifted, a relay inside the Headlight Switch energizes and supplies a ground path to the Courtesy Lights.
