Standard Headlights

CIRCUIT OPERATION

Battery voltage is applied to the Headlight Switch at all times. When the Headlight Switch is in "HEAD," voltage is applied directly to the LOW Beams (2 Door) or to Headlight Dimmer Switch which directs voltage to the LOW Beams (4 Door). When the Headlight Dimmer Switch is placed in "HI," battery voltage is applied to the HI Beam Lights and HI Beam Indicator.

DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (STE Only)
The Driver Information Center receives serial data information concerning lamp outages from the Lamp Monitor Module. The Lamp Monitor Module monitors the lamps by measuring voltage drops across its internal resistors. If the lamps are functioning normally, there will be a certain amount of voltage dropped across these internal resistors. If there is a lamp outage, there will be a small or zero voltage drop across the resistor. The Lamp Monitor Module detects this and sends the appropriate lamp outage information to the Driver Information Center over the data lines.

FLASH-TO-PASS
When the Headlights are "OFF" or in LOW Beam, the HI Beam Headlights can be turned on momentarily by pulling back part way on the Multi-Function Lever. This supplies battery voltage to CKT 11, turning on the HI Beams. The HI Beams will go out as soon as the lever is released.
