Housing Cover And Turn Signal Switch Removal:
Buzzer Switch Wires, Removal:
Remove or Disconnect
Tool Required: J 35689-A Terminal Remover.
1. Nut retainer and jamnut (1).
2. Steering wheel.
3. Turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
4. Hazard knob screw (6).
5. Hazard warning knob (5).
Important: Position turn signal switch (7) so that turn signal switch screws (3) and housing cover screw (41) can be removed through openings in switch.
6. Housing cover screw (41). (This screw is longer and blue in color.)
7. Column housing cover (4).
8. Shoe pin retainer cap (8).
9. Wiring protector (16) from opening in "IP" bracket on jacket and bowl assembly (19) and separate from wires
10. Pivot and pulse switch connector (15) from ignition and dimmer switch(36).
11. Pivot switch screw (14).
12. Pivot and pulse switch assembly (15).
13. Turn signal switch screws (3).
14. Turn signal switch connector (7) from ignition and dimmer switch assembly connector (36).
15. E & C module(37) from turn signal switch assembly (7), if so equipped, as follows:
- Remove tape and separate module from wire harness.
- Depress tab on connector and gently separate module from connector.
16. Seventeen-way secondary lock from turn signal connector (7).
17. Wires on buzzer switch assembly (17) from turn signal connector (7) with J 35689-A, wrap wire ends with tape to protect during removal and installation.
18. Turn signal switch assembly (7) from column.
Install or Connect
Important: All fasteners in the following steps must be firmly seated before being tightened to specified torque.
1. Turn signal switch assembly (7).
Important: Position turn signal switch (7) so that turn signal switch screws (3) and housing cover screw (41) can be installed through openings in switch.
2. Turn signal switch screws (3) and torque to 2.3 Nm (20 lb. in.).
3. Wires from buzzer switch assembly (17) to turn signal switch connector (7) as follows:
- Light green wire in location "9."
- Tan/black wire in location "10."
4. Seventeen-way secondary lock to turn signal connector (7) and snap in place.
5. E & C module (37) to turn signal switch assembly (7), if so equipped, as follows:
- Module to connector on wire harness and snap in place.
- Position module against wire harness and secure with tape.
6. Turn signal connector (7) to ignition and dimmer switch connector (36) and snap in place.
7. Pivot and pulse switch assembly (15).
8. Pivot switch screw (14) and torque to 2.3 Nm (20 lb. in.).
9. Pivot switch connector (15) to ignition and dimmer switch connector (36) and snap in place.
10. Wiring protector (16) as follows:
- Wrap protector (16) around all wines passing through "IP" bracket opening.
- Close protector so that interlocking grooves engage.
- Slide wiring protector (16) into "P" bracket opening on jacket and bowl assembly (19) and snap in place.
11. Shoe pin retainer cap (8).
12. Column housing cover (4).
13. Housing screw (41) and torque to 2.3 Nm (20 lb. in.).
14. Hazard warning knob (5).
15. Hazard knob screw (6) and torque to 0.8 Nm (7 lb. in.).
16. Lubricate bottom side of cancel cam (2) with synthetic grease. (Reference grease service kit.)
^ Turn signal cancel cam assembly (2).
17. Steering wheel.
18. Jam nut (1), torque to 41 Nm (30 lb. ft.) and secure with nut retainer.
