Drive Axle Inboard Seal, Left Hand - Proper Installation

REPLACING DAMAGED LEFT HAND DRIVE AXLE INBOARD SEAL (CHECK WIRE HARNESS POSITION)

MODELS:
1993 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX
WITH 3.1L ENGINE (RPO LH0) AND 3 SPEED (MX1) AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE

CONDITION:

The wire harness to the park/neutral switch on the transaxle may not be properly retained, and may contact the axle seal. This contact may eventually wear through the seal.

CORRECTION:

Replace the drive axle Inboard seal following Service Manual procedures. Make sure that the wire harness is properly retained, using additional harness tie straps, if necessary, to insure that the harness cannot contact the seal. Remember to account for engine movement when positioning the harness.
