TEST DESCRIPTION
Numbers below refer to circled numbers on diagnostic chart.

1. This test checks to see if the transaxle mode switch is signaling the PCM to turn solenoid A "OFF" (enabling 2nd gear shift). If solenoid A does not go "OFF," and the mode switch is "ON," 4 of 4 Shift Solenoid Electrical Diagnosis

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The "SCAN" tool should display mode switch and shift solenoid status. If the mode switch is "ON," solenoid is "OFF," and transmission is not in second gear, check for faulty or sticking solenoid in transmission, or other internal transmission problem.
