Differential & Ring Gear






DISASSEMBLE
1. Remove differential ring gear bolts (78) and ring gear (72).

2. Remove differential side bearings (76 and 63) using hydraulic press, split plate tool No. J-39372 and press adapter tube tool No. J-5590, or equivalents, then the speed sensor rotor (73), Removal will destroy rotor.

3. Remove differential pinion gear shaft bolt (71), the cross pin (66), side and pinion gears (69 and 70) and washers (68).


ASSEMBLE
Speed sensor rotor must be heated in oven at 250°F for 7-10 minutes prior to installation.

1. Allow speed sensor rotor (73) to cool, then install.

2. Install differential side bearings (63 and 76) using differential bearing installer tool No. J-39373 or equivalent, and hydraulic press.

3. Install side and pinion gears (69 and 70) with washers (68).

4. Install cross pin (66) and bolt (71). Tighten differential pinion gear shaft bolt to 17 lbs. ft.

5. Position ring gear, aligning ID chamfer to carrier.

6. Apply small amount of sealant part No. 1052624, or equivalent, to threads of new differential ring gear bolts (78), then install and tighten bolts to 63 lbs. ft.
