Convertible Top: Description and Operation
Voltage is applied from the CTSY Fuse to terminal B of the Convertible Top Switch at all times. With the Ignition Switch in RUN, voltage is applied through the WDO Circuit Breaker to terminal C1/C of the Convertible Top Relay. When the Convertible Top Switch is in the UP position, voltage from terminal A is applied to terminal C2/B of the Convertible Top Relay, energizing the Up Relay. The contact closes and voltage from the PNK (76) wire is applied to the motor in the Hydraulic Power Assembly. Ground is provided through the Down contact of the Convertible Top Relay. The motor turns a pump which hydraulically raises the Convertible Top.
Circuit operation is similar when the Convertible Top Switch is in the DN position. Voltage is applied through the Down Relay to the motor. Ground is provided through the Up contact of the Convertible Top Relay. The polarity to the motor has now reversed. The motor turns in the opposite direction to hydraulically lower the Convertible Top.
