Transaxle Case






Remove bearing and bushings only if there is a evidence of damage or a mating part is being replaced.

1. Remove shift rail plugs (202) using suitable punch.

2. Remove shift rail bushings (96) using shift rail bushing remover/installer tool Nos. J-36029-1, J-36029-2 and driver handle tool No. J-36190, or equivalents.

3. Remove small reverse shift rail bushing (95) and plug (202) using shift rail bushing installer/remover tool No. J-39427, or equivalent.

4. Remove shift shaft seal (207) using screwdriver, then the shift shaft bearing (206) using shift shaft bearing remover tool No. J-36027 and driver handle tool No. J-36190, or equivalents.

5. Remove differential bearing race (62) using differential bearing race remover tool No. J-39374 and slide hammer and adapter set tool No. J-23907, or equivalents.

6. Remove drive axle oil seal (28) using screw driver, then the output shaft bearing race (85) using output shaft bearing race remover/installer tool No. J-23423-A and driver handle tool No. J-8092, or equivalents.

7. Remove snap ring (123), then the input shaft bearing spacer (90).

8. Remove input shaft bearing (91) and shim (121).

9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Apply sealant part No. 1052624, or equivalent, to sliding sleeve bolt threads, then tighten bolt to specifications

b. Select appropriate input shaft bearing shim (121) as outlined under "Shim Selection." Refer to Shim Selection.
