Removal/Installation

1. Remove approximately 2/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Mark relationship between front wheel and hub, then remove wheel and hub assembly.
4. Bottom piston into caliper bore using suitable pliers to provide clearance between brake pads and rotor.
5. Disconnect brake hose from caliper. Plug openings in brake hose and caliper to prevent leakage and contamination. Do not crimp brake hose, as this may damage internal structure of hose.
6. Remove outer protective caps from caliper housing seats.
7. Remove caliper attaching bolts, and the caliper.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Original equipment caliper attaching bolts are micro-encapsulated. After removal of these bolts, threads in steering knuckle must be re-cut using a M12 X 1.5 thread tap.
b. Install new caliper attaching bolts not micro-encapsulated and tighten to specification.
c. Install brake hose inlet fitting attaching bolt.
d. Install new outer protective caps. Ensure caps seat evenly on caliper.
e. Upon completion of installation, bleed hydraulic system, then lower vehicle. Before moving vehicle, pump brake pedal several times to be sure it is firm. Do not move vehicle until a firm pedal is obtained.
