Timing Belt Front Cover Replace

Remove or Disconnect
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
- Loosen generator upper and lower mounting bolts.
2. Serpentine drive belt from generator and power steering pump pulleys (if equipped).
3. Three bolts and power steering pump pulley (if equipped).
4. Two bolts retaining power steering pump (if equipped).
5. Three bolts and upper timing belt front cover.
- Raise and suitably support vehicle.
6. Right-side splash shield.
- Loosen A/C compressor upper and lower mounting bolts (if equipped).
7. A/C compressor drive belt from crankshaft pulley (if equipped).
8. Serpentine drive belt from crankshaft pulley.
9. One bolt and crankshaft pulley from crankshaft.
10. Three bolts and lower timing belt front covers.
Install or Connect
1. Lower timing belt front covers; secure with three bolts.
- Tighten Lower timing belt front cover bolts to 8 N.m. (71 lb.in.).
2. Crankshaft pulley to crankshaft; secure with one bolt.
- Tighten Crankshaft pulley retaining bolt to 55 N.m. (40 lb.ft.).
3. Serpentine drive belt to crankshaft pulley.
4. A/C compressor drive belt to crankshaft pulley (if equipped).
- Reposition A/C compressor; secure with upper and lower mounting bolts (if equipped).
- Tighten A/C compressor upper and lower mounting bolts to 25 N.m. (18 lb.ft.).
5. Right-side splash shield.
- Lower vehicle.
6. Upper timing belt front cover; secure with three bolts.
- Tighten Upper timing belt front cover bolts to 8 N.m. (71 lb.in.).
- Reposition power steering pump; secure with two bolts (if equipped).
- Tighten Power steering pump bolts to 25 N.m. (18 lb.ft.).
7. Power steering pump pulley to pump; secure with three bolts (if equipped).
- Tighten Power steering pump pulley bolts to 27 N.m. (20 lb.ft.).
8. Serpentine drive belt to generator and power steering pump pulleys (if equipped).
- Reposition generator; secure with upper and lower mounting bolts.
- Tighten Generator upper and lower mounting nuts and bolts to 25 N.m. (18 lb.ft.).
9. Negative (-) battery cable.
