DTC 82
DTC 82 Calibration Malfunction:
DTC 82 Calibration Malfunction:
Circuit Description:
This DTC allows the EBCM to check for a calibration failure by comparing the calibration value to a known value stored in the EEPROM.
This test is also used as a security measure to prevent improper use of calibrations or changes to these calibrations that may alter the designed function of ABS.
DTC Will Set When:
DTC 82 can be set at key-up. If the program identifier is incorrect or the memory checksum is incorrect, a malfunction exists.
Action Taken:
A malfunction DTC is stored, ABS is disabled and the ABS warning lamp is turned "ON."
DTC Chart Test Description:
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. This step checks to see if the malfunction is present during diagnosis. If present, the EBCM is not functioning correctly and must be replaced.
Diagnostic Aids:
An intermittent DTC 82 is most likely caused by a bad cell in the EEPROM that is sensitive to temperature changes. If DTC 82 occurred more than once, but is intermittent, replace EBCM.
The frequency of the malfunction can be checked by using the enhanced diagnostic function of the Tech 1.
