Troubleshooting Hints - Power Windows
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS1. Always check terminal contact before replacing any component.
2. If all power windows are inoperative, check circuit breaker 1 in I/P fuse block. Reset circuit breaker if tripped. If circuit breaker trips again when ignition switch is set to RUN position, check for short to ground in CKT 141.
3. If windows move slowly, check that:
- Windows are free of mechanical binding; pivot joints are greased.
- Battery is fully charged.
- Ground G202 is clean and tight.
4. If a motor's internal circuit breaker trips, it does not reset until voltage is removed from motor.
5. If power windows do not operate for approximately 10 minutes (or until a door is opened) after ignition switch is turned to OFF position, refer to Accessories and Optional Equipment / System Diagnosis for diagnosis. Testing and Inspection
6. Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage check (Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures).
7. Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems. (Refer to General Troubleshooting Procedures).
