Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES
To clear any Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) from the memory, either to determine if the malfunction will occur again or because repair has been completed, a diagnostic scan tool may be used, or the feed must be disconnected for at least thirty (30) seconds. Follow instructions
supplied by tool manufacturer when clearing codes with a diagnostic scan tool.

Depending on application, the following methods may be used to clear
DTC's.
^ Disconnect power source to Powertrain Control Module (PCM),
(fuse, pigtail at battery).
^ Disconnect negative battery cable. (The negative battery cable
may be disconnected, but other on-board memory data, such as preset
radio tuning, will also be lost.)
