REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Be sure ignition switch is in "OFF" or "LOCK" position.
2. Four-terminal Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector at ignition coil module.
3. Ignition coil wiring connectors.
4. Ignition coil harness.
5. Studs (5).
6. Ignition coil / Ignition Control Module assembly (8).
^ Do not wipe silicone grease from bottom of ignition coil assembly (8) if it is to he reinstalled.
DISASSEMBLE
1. Coil (10) from brackets (13 and 14) by drilling out rivets (9).
2. Bolts/screws (12).
3. Ignition control module (11).
NOTICE: If a new ignition coil assembly is to be installed, a package of silicone grease will be included in the box. This grease is necessary for ignition coil assembly cooling.
ASSEMBLE
1. Spread silicone grease on metal face of ignition control module (11) and on bracket (13) where it seats, and position ignition control module (11) to bracket (13).
2. Bolts / screws (12).
Tighten
^ Bolts / screws (12) to 1.7 Nm (15 lb in.).
3. Coil (10) to brackets (13 and 14) using bolts / screws provided with replacement coil (10).
Tighten
^ Bolts / screws to 2.8 Nm (25 lb in.).
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Spread silicone grease on metal mounting face of ignition coil bracket (14) if necessary, and position ignition coil / Ignition Control module assembly (8) to cylinder head assembly.
2. Studs (5).
Tighten
^ Studs (5) to 25 Nm (18 lb ft.).
3. Ignition coil harness.
4. Ignition coil wiring connectors.
5. Four terminal PCM connector to ignition coil module.
