Troubleshooting Hints

Perform before beginning System Diagnosis
If the vehicle is left for 24 or more days without the ignition being put in "RUN," the Keyless Entry and Illuminated Entry features will be disabled to decrease parasitic battery drain. Putting the ignition switch in "RUN" will restore these features.
1. Check that ground G3O2 is clean and tight.
2. Check the GAGES Fuse by observing the Instrument Cluster Gages.
3. Check the CTSY Fuse by operating the Power Door Locks.
4. Always check terminal contact before replacing any component.
5. If a second transmitter is available, try it. If it works, change the batteries in the first transmitter and try it again. If it still doesn't work, it is defective.
6. Check Portable Transmitter battery terminals. They should be clean and make good contact with the battery.
7. If in doubt as to the condition of the Transmitter batteries, replace them with new ones. Checking battery voltage with a DVOM may give false results.
8. If a motor's internal circuit breaker trips, it will not reset until voltage is removed from the motor.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check.
^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of other systems.
