Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement. Only replace fuel filter if it is restricted.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel System / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
2. Raise vehicle and suitably support.

Clean
^ Clean both fuel feed pipe connections and surrounding areas at in-line fuel filter before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.

3. Using back-up wrench, remove fuel filter fitting.
4. Quick-connect fittings.
5. Fuel filter.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Remove protective caps from new filter.
2. New plastic connector retainers on filter inlet tube.
3. Filter in same position as old filter.
4. Quick connect fittings.
5. Fuel filter fitting using new 0-ring.

Tighten
^ Use back-up wrench to prevent filter, "0"-ring or fuel line damage.
^ Fitting to 27 Nm (20 lbs. ft.).

6. Lower vehicle.
7. Fuel filler cap.
8. Negative battery cable.

INSPECT
^ Turn ignition to "ON" position for two seconds, then turn to "OFF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position, and check for fuel leaks.
