Troubleshooting Hints

Make the following checks before beginning system diagnosis.
1. If the Powertrain Control Module and Electronic Brake Control Module are not accessible with a scan tool, check for an open in CKT 800 between DLC terminal "M" and S277.
2. If a single component is not accessible with a scan tool, check for an open in the following:
^ Powertrain Control Module - CKT 800 between S277 and component.
^ Electronic Brake Control Module - CKT 800 between S277 and component.
^ Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module - CKT 1061 between DLC terminal "L" and component.

If the wires are OK, refer to Powertrain Management for PCM diagnosis, Anti-Lock Brake System for ABS diagnosis, and Air Bags (Supplemental Inflatable Restraint) for SIR diagnosis.

3. Check that all connectors in system are mated correctly.
^ Check for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the insulation which could cause system failure but prove "GOOD" in a continuity/voltage check.

^ Check for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment which may affect the integrity of their systems.
