Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

Transaxle Range Switch:

PURPOSE
The transaxle range switch indicates to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) what gear the transaxle is in. This information is used for the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC), Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), and the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve operation.

NOTE: Vehicle should not be driven with transaxle range switch disconnected, as idle quality and transaxle performance will be affected.
