CONDITION
Some owners may comment that the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) indicator remains "on".
CAUSE
The ABS indicator may remain on due to a broken wire in the front wheel speed sensor connector at the back of the terminal crimp.
CORRECTION
Important:
Suspect vehicles were built in October, 1994 and have tape on leads to back of front wheel speed sensor harness connectors. If a failure occurs, then change both front wheel speed sensor harness connectors.
1. If the ABS indicator is "on" and ABS diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) 21 and/or 22 are present, check both front wheel speed sensor harness connectors for a broken wire.
2. If the wire is broken, install wheel speed sensor harness connector kit(s), P/N 12140077 (left front wheel) and/or P/N 12140078 (right front wheel).
3. The kit includes instructions, splices and "pigtail" connector.
4. The jumper is long enough to insure the proper splice location (within the main branch of the engine harness and not within the control arm section of the wiring harness) and not at flex zones.
5. Kit usage will alleviate repeat failures.
Parts are expected to be available on June 26, 1995.
