Mirrors: Description and Operation
Each Outside Mirror has two reversible motors. One adjusts the mirror view up and down and the other adjusts the mirror view right and left. The driver operates a switch that controls the polarity of the voltage to the motors. The Mirror Select Switch directs the voltage to either the RH/LH Outside Mirror. When the LH Outside Mirror is selected and the Mirror Switch is in the "UP" position, battery voltage from CKT 1140 is applied to CKT 88 and the Up/Down Motor in the LH Outside Mirror. The Outside Remote Control Rearview Mirror Switch has a path to ground through CKT 1499, the Up contacts of the switch and CKT 750. The LH Motor runs and turns the mirror up.
If the Outside Remote Control Rearview Mirror Switch is in the "DOWN" position, the same motor receives voltage from CKT 1499, while the CKT 88 is grounded. The motor runs in the opposite direction.
The Left/Right Motor operates in a similar manner. When the Outside Remote Control Rearview Mirror Switch is in the "LEFT" position, CKT 1499 receives battery voltage and CKT 81 is grounded through the switch. The motor runs and moves the mirror left. When the "RIGHT" Switch is pressed. the motor receives battery voltage through CKT 81 and ground through the CKT 1499. The motor runs in the opposite direction to move the mirror right.
The RH Outside Mirror works the same way as the LH Outside Mirror when the Mirror Select Switch is moved to the "RH" position and the appropriate position switch is operated.
