Cooling System: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
This vehicle utilizes two electric cooling fans for engine and A/C condenser cooling. The fans operate as outlined below.

OPERATION
The engine is equipped with two PCM controlled electric cooling fan(s). The right fan 2 is used for heavy duty cooling with A/C.

Left fan
Left fan 1, will be "ON" with any of the following criteria:

- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor signal indicating a temperature greater than 106°C (223°F).
- A/C refrigerant pressure sensor is greater than 240 psi.
OR
- When a DTC P0117 or P0118 is set.

Right fan
Right fan 2 will be "ON" with any of the following criteria:

- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor signal indicating a temperature greater than 113°C (235°F).
OR
- A/C is requested and vehicle speed less than 64 km/h (40 mph).
- A/C refrigerant pressure sensor is greater than 240 psi.
