Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

The Filter Is Located On The Drivers Side Rear Cross Member Just Forward Of The Fuel Tank:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Relieve fuel system pressure. See Fuel System / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
3. Raise vehicle on hoist.
4. Quick-connect fitting.
5. Fuel feed pipe nut from fuel filter. Drain any remaining fuel into an approved container.
6. Slide fuel filter Out of bracket.

Inspect
Fuel pipe O-ring for cuts, nicks, swelling or distortion. Replace if necessary.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

WARNING: To Reduce the Risk of Fire and Personal Injury: If nylon pipe is nicked, scratched or damaged during installation, it must be replaced.

1. New plastic connector retainer on filter inlet.
- Install in same position as on old filter.
2. Slide fuel filter into bracket.
3. Quick-connect fitting.
4. Fuel feed pipe nut to outlet side of filter.

Tighten
Use backup wrench to prevent filter from turning and tighten fuel filter outlet nut to 30 Nm (22 lb. ft.).

5. Lower vehicle.
6. Tighten fuel filler cap.
7. Negative battery cable.

INSPECT
Turn ignition switch to "ON," position for two seconds, then turn to "OFF" for ten seconds. Again turn to "ON" position, and check for fuel leaks.
